What areas of New Zealand and the World do World Moving and Storage cover?

World Moving and Storage traverse New Zealand in its entirety and all countries in the world. We have a network of World Partners in all locations. All World partners are trusted and share the same customer values and work ethic.

Can World Moving and Storage provide a pre-move visit?

We provide a pre-move consultation free-of-charge. During this consult, our World Representative will be able to explain all details of the move from start to finish - whether a local or international move. We can also detail our other services such as packing, money transfers, insurance and pet transportation. 

What size vehicles does World Moving have?

We have a variety of sizes of vehicles in our modern, fully maintained fleet. The size of the truck allocated to each move is dependent on a few variables including the volume to be relocated, access to the property and final destination.

What training and benefits does World Moving provide for its staff and how does this affects me?

All our operational staff are trained to achieve NZQA, the National Certificate in removals. They are trained to the NZQA standard for packing, shifting and relocation of domestic, commercial and international furniture and personal effects.
We only employee full-time staff to emphasise our commitment to retention of staff and to the standard World guarantees to all our customers. All staff undergo a rigorous interview process including police checks and induction procedures which include Health and Safety and Environmental procedures.

Am I allowed to pack my own cartons?

Many countries no longer accept shipments which are packed by owners. It is best to check with your Move Manager directly regarding packing your own boxes and cartons. We can provide a full professional pack service for both international and domestic relocations.

How will World Moving pack my china and glass and precious ornaments?

World Moving use acid free craft paper, corrugated card and a specialist export quality bubble wrap (Etuff 3 layers – plastic, bubble, material) to wrap glassware, crystal, ornaments, paintings, photos and all artwork. Please see the links below for videos of packing:

What do I need to do to prepare my fridge and freezer for moving and how is it packed?

Fridge and freezers need to be free from moisture during transit – this applies to all domestic and international relocations. We recommend turning the fridge or freezers off a couple of days in advance, to provide enough drying time to then be packed.
For local moves the day is sufficient if it is going straight to a new location and not via storage.
Moves within New Zealand the fridge will be secured with furniture pads. For international moves the fridge will be packed with a three layer export quality bubble wrap and cardboard. Follow the link below for a video on fridge packing:

Will the crew dismantle and re-assemble my bed and furniture?

Our crew will dismantle beds and furniture which are fairly basic and require minimal tools. They will re-assemble anything they dismantle. It is best to advise during the quoting process of anything which requires dismantling and reassembling so the crew are prepared with the correct equipment and resources on move day.

Do I need to empty my chest of draws for moving?

As long as the unit is very sturdy then items such as bedding and light clothing can be left in the drawers. Kit set furniture is generally less sturdy and is recommended to be moved only when completely empty.

Will the crew unpack for me?

Depending on the service agreed upon. World Moving offers a full unpack service; talk to your move manager about the options available. We  also have handyman services available to assist in helping you settle in to your new home.

Can World Moving provide storage?

We can provide long-term or temporary storage. As we are a Customs Bonded facility we must adhere to strict policy including monitored alarms, structural requirements and controlled access to the public.

How big are the storage units?

We can cater for small storage requirements such as one box up to a full house or vehicle. We also provide storage for business - for example, excess furniture or documents. 

Are there any items that are prohibited when storing or relocating?

It is important to ensure you are not relocating or storing items which may cause damage to other items or to the entire shipment or transporting vehicle. This includes but is not limited to liquids (fuel, oils, paint and paint thinners, varnish), explosives (firearms, ammunition, fireworks), perishables (live animals and plants, foodstuffs), flammables (lighters, propane), illegal items (drugs, stolen goods), family heirlooms and irreplaceable items or insecticides. If you are uncertain please check with your Move Manager. 

Do I need to take insurance?

We have very professional standards through the entire process of packing, transport and delivery, to ensure your belongings are as safe and secure as possible. It is important to be aware that your effects will be relocated on a boat, truck or another means of transport – all of which carry risk.

What is the transit time for international relocations?

Transit time varies depending on the origin and destination locations. We do our utmost best to advise of accurate transit times however there are instances where these times are affected, out of World Moving’s control. For example: seasonal variations, consolidation periods and delays at ports.
